MISSION

Rec Sports collaborates with the Rollins College campus community to prepare students for global citizenship and responsible leadership.

FACILITIES

Alfond Sports Center

The Alfond Sports Center is home to basketball, volleyball, group fitness classes, sports and intramural sports. The 21,000-square-foot Warden Arena is the centerpiece of the center and home court for Rollins’ basketball and volleyball teams. The esports room is located on the second floor of the center and opened in fall of 2020. It features 15 high-end gaming PCs with NVIDIA RTX 2070 graphics cards and a private, dedicated gigabit ethernet connection. All students are welcome to use the room during open facility hours.

Barker Family Stadium

Located in the middle of campus along Holt Avenue, the Barker Family Stadium and Cahall-Sandspur Field serves as the home field of Rollins soccer and lacrosse programs. Sandspur has long been the home field of Rollins Athletics. The tract has hosted everything from Tars football, soccer and lacrosse to rec sports and camps.

Bert W. Martin Tennis Complex

One of the ultra-modern Rollins facilities – the Bert W. Martin Tennis Complex – includes six state-of-the-art tennis courts overlooking Lake Virginia. Built with a generous $ 100,000 grant from the Bert W. Martin Foundation of San Marino, California, the six-lighted courts are used by the men’s and women’s varsity tennis teams for practice and competition. It is also home to pickleball and intramural sports.

Rollins Boathouse

A lakeside location offers unprecedented access to glistening Lake Virginia. Students can explore the east side of campus via paddleboard or boat, both of which are available to check out through the Rollins Boathouse. The interior of the boathouse boasts three offices, a large classroom, locker rooms and storage for the Tars sailing equipment. An observation deck on the roof and six covered slips highlight the exterior. Popular water sports include wakeboarding, water skiing, kayaking and tubing.

The department of recreational sports also offers tons of fitness classes – everything from meditation to marathon training. Students can get their groove on with a Zumba class or feel the burn in a boot-camp-style session.
