Hotpod Yoga to open in Gateshead with free classes bringing New Year boost for mind and body

The Hotpod Yoga trend is expanding to Gateshead with a new studio all set to open near the quayside – and there will be free sessions on offer to celebrate.

Former teacher Stacey Olson will launch the hugely popular franchise this January in one of the arches at Hymers Court in Brandling Street, near the Tyne Bridge, where it will be introducing yoga fans to the benefits of what is said to be a mind and body- boosting form of the exercise.

It involves yoga bends and stretches inside a heated pod, with high temperatures building up heat inside the body while accompanying music, scents and an immersive purple environment to calm the mind at the same time.

Stacey said of its multi-sensory appeal: “It’s a totally unique yoga experience – the classes are heated to 37 degrees held in a beautiful, cocoon-like, immersive environment.”

The former primary school teacher said her new venture combines her three passions: yoga, wellness and heat.

“I always knew that I wanted to share the benefits of yoga with as many people as I could reach,” she said.

“After trying Hotpod, it was like nothing I’ve ever experienced – now I just want everyone to be a part of it.

“I feel like it’s a total escape from the everyday and the perfect antidote to the wet British weather!”

Initially launched in 2013, Hotpod Yoga is a Europe-wide franchise which first came to the North East in 2017 when Alex and Jules Hurley opened a branch in Jesmond, following up with a second in Monkseaton at the end of 2019.

Then last summer Peter Eyre and Allie Denholm opened their Hotpod in Morpeth. There is also now one in Sunderland.

Stacey says Hotpod Yoga caters for all levels of experience from yoga beginners to long-time practitioners and offers an escape from the chaos of life.

She can’t wait to launch it in Gateshead, adding: “Gateshead’s high street and quayside continue to grow and thrive with exciting renovation plans coming soon.

“I’m just really excited to bring Hotpod to the mix!”

To celebrate the occasion she will be offering complimentary classes leading up to the opening weekend of January 15-16.
