In true Singaporean fashion, our eyes twinkle whenever we see the word “free”. Better yet – free stuff with no long queues. This may sound too good to be true, but it really isn’t.
We know how expensive gym memberships can be. So, with the added incentive of improving your health, you’ll want to Chop your spot at these free workouts in Singapore. From yoga and HIIT to a fun cardio sesh, all you have to do is pick a class, show up, and slay.
1. Yoga Seeds – Free family yoga sessions

This one’s for the whole fam. Bring along the grandparents and the kids for a free outdoor yoga session with Yoga Seeds. It happens every second Sunday of the month Bishan-AMK Parkwhere tons of families gather together to stretch it out in an open green space.
tHES yoga sessions are beginner-friendly so little ones and seniors are all welcome to join in the fun. Since Sunday is usually family day, make an activity out of it so everyone can participate and spend quality time together.
Book your mat space through eventbrite and just bring along your own yoga mats. And that’s it, you’re ready to bust out that yoga pose.

2. Decathlon – Free sports activities all over the island

Bet you didn’t know that this beloved sports store also organizes free sports activities at its various outlets in Singapore. If you’ve been wanting to try a new sport, Decathlon‘s free classes are a great opportunity to have a taste before investing in the relevant sports equipment.
Besides enjoyable team activities such as football and futsal, there are also individual programs such as HIIT, bootcampand circuit training. The kids won’t be left out either with classes for them to learn new skills such as gymnastics and floorball.
If you just need some company to motivate you to get off your couch and exercise, then join the Decathlon Running Club at Northshore Plaza that goes for runs in groups, usually on the weekends at 6.30pm.

3. Singapore Botanic Gardens Bootcampers – HIIT with a view

A group of friends gathered one day and decided they wanted to exercise together in an informal setting – no pressure of keeping up with an instructor and no gym fees. Thus, SBG Bootcampers was born. This meetup group now has over 5,000 members and is free for anyone to join.
Not only do you get to work out in the beautiful Singapore Botanic Gardens, but you can also make a bunch of new friends. From skipping ropes to burpees, these HIIT sessions are not for the faint-hearted. So, join in if you have some experience or want to give yourself the extra push.
Besides the signature bootcampthe group also organizes Saturday morning runs at different parks, taking various scenic routes at locations such as Siglap and Pierce Reservoir.

4. Move It! By HPB – >60 types of workouts islandwide

Singapore’s Health Promotion Board (HPB) by far offers the most variety and number of free workout classes happening all over the island. It’s as simple as scrolling through the Healthy 365 app (App Store | Playstore) for an activity of your interest and making a booking with one click. You can even filter the options by location so you don’t have to travel too far.

With more than 200 free classes a day, there’s bound to be an option near you. Activities range from heart-pumping Bolly Beats – where you get to bust out moves on popular Bollywood numbers – to energetic Kickboxing. Activity zones include locations near the CBD, malls for indoor workouts, and public parks for outdoor workouts.
In fact, there’s a whole range of community events for residents to come together. In estates where senior citizens have plenty, workouts like this Line Dance, Low Impact Aerobics, I teach Zumbaand Resistance Band Exercises has offered.

5. Urban Yoga at Suntec Plaza – Yoga near the Fountain of Wealth

If you work around Suntec City, kick off your week with a refreshing outdoor yoga session with Urban Yogis. With the aim of making yoga accessible to everyone, this group offers weekly hour-long classes on Mondays.
While it’s only limited to the first 15 pax, the class is open to beginners and intermediate practitioners alike. What’s more, the open space where they practice is just opposite the Fountain of Wealth – meaning lots of food options to have dinner right after.

6. Singapore Sports Hub – Free cardio classes such as K-Kardio

There’s nothing better than enthusiastic instructors acting as your personal cheerleaders when you need to be hyped up for a workout. A lot of us dread doing cardio but if it comes in the form of a dance class, it might just be worth the effort. Singapore Sports Hub offers free classes every single day including Dance Storm, Zumbaand K-Cardio on selected days of the week.
On other days, you’ll find yoga, boxingand martial arts as part of the free workouts at the stadium. To join a class, make a booking through the ELXR app (App Store | Playstore). The venue also has various facilities free for use by anyone such as a running track, exercise stations, and a skate park.

7. ActiveSG – Low-intensity workouts suitable for the elderly
ActiveSG offers free activities for seniors that improve both physical and mental health.

Working on all sorts of muscle groups, ActiveSG offers free workouts in various categories – flexibility, muscle endurance, cardiovascular, aerobics and balance. A lot of these classes are specially designed for the elderly who need a low-intensity workout to stay fit.
One of the classes is a Chair Workout which allows one to strengthen muscles and improve blood circulation without having to put strain on the joints. Another similar class for those suffering from aches and pains is Stretch & Rejuvenate. This is where the seniors will work on their mobility by stretching out stiff muscles and aim to become more flexible.

Other age groups are not forgotten with free classes like this Piloxing Barre – an interesting combination of pilates, ballet, and boxing. Intermediate classes such as Fuze Fitness also has an option for those interested in martial arts.
