Four area players advanced to the District 4 girls tennis singles tournament semifinals on Monday in Jersey Shore’s Peyton Dincher, Loyalsock’s Anna Hall, Montoursville’s Kara Mann and Hughesville’s Sarah Buck.

The semifinals will be played at 1 pm on Monday at the Central PA Tennis Center, with the championship set to begin shortly thereafter.

Dincher and Hall will face off in one semifinal and Mann and Buck will play each other in the second semifinal. Dincher finished runner-up last year to South Williamsport’s Olivia Dorner, who won her fourth consecutive district title last fall.

The top two finishers at the District 4 tournament advance to the state tournament in Hershey. The state tournament begins on Friday, Nov. 4, at the Hershey Racquet Club. Dincher, a sophomore, lost last year in the first round of the PIAA Class AA tournament to Lancaster Catholic’s Anna Millen, 6-1, 6-1.

Dincher secured a first-round bye, and awaited her opponent for the second round. Coming in at the second seed was Mann, who also received a first round bye as she awaited her opponent in the second round as well.
