West Wight Sports and Community Center will throw open its doors on Wednesday 21st September to offer free activities for everyone to try as part of National Fitness Day 2022 – which is set to be the UK’s most active day of the year.
National Fitness Day, which takes place on Wednesday 21st September, will see a huge range of free events and taster sessions take place across the whole of the UK under the theme of “Fitness Unites Us”.
What to expect
We will be hosting activities including a Circuit Class taster session at 9am and a chance to try out fitness equipment throughout the day.
National Fitness Day is the UK’s most active day of the year – in 2021 more than 22 million people were inspired to be active on the day.
This year the campaign will continue to encourage people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to come together to recognize the importance of prioritizing being active for our mental well-being as well as physical health.
We can find the mental strength to help us cope
The challenges posed by the cost of living crisis and the pandemic mean many people in the UK are facing tough choices every day, but by uniting through fitness, we can find the mental strength to help us cope.
Using the theme Fitness Unites Us, campaign organizers ukactive are encouraging fitness, sport and leisure providers across the UK to demonstrate the inclusive power of physical activity in bringing people from all walks of life together, in every community.
Free events and activities will take place in gyms, leisure centers, studios, parks, sports clubs, as well as online via digital platforms and apps, with millions of people set to try a new activity and take the first step, no matter how small, to live a more active life.
You can also get involved by posting photos or messages on social media in the build-up to National Fitness Day, using #FitnessDay and sharing a message or picture showing how you stay active and why.
