NORFOLK, Va. (Oct. 10, 2022) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference announced today that Morgan State senior running back Alphonso Graham has been named MEAC Co-Player of the Week and junior center Dexter Carr Jr. has been selected Offensive Lineman of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola.

Norfolk State redshirt sophomore wide receiver Da’Quan Felton joined Graham as MEAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week, while Norfolk State defensive back Stuart Anderson, Jr. was named Defensive Player of the Week and the Spartans’ Kevon King was named Rookie of the Week.

Graham (RB, 5-9, 180, Sr., Baltimore, Md.) racked up a career-high 203 rushing yards on 23 carries, averaging 8.8 per attempt, in the Bears’ loss to Norfolk State. The MEAC’s leading rusher briefly gave the Bears the lead with a 51-yard touchdown with 1:53 remaining in the game – capping off a stretch of 21 unanswered points for Morgan State. He also caught four passes for 21 yards.

His 203-yard performance ranks T-No. 8 (Herb Walker Jr. – 2014, Craig Nelson – 2004) in Morgan’s Division I history.

Graham currently ranks No. 8 nationally (FCS) in rushing yards per game (108.4), No. 8 in rushing yards per carry (7.23) and No. 13 in rushing yards (542).

Carr (6-4, 295, Stafford, Va.), graded out at 94 percent on his assignments and helped pave the way for an MSU offense which gained 375 total yards, including 249 on the ground against the Spartans. He recorded a pair of pancake blocks and did not allow a sack or commit a penalty.

With the addition of Graham and Carr, the Bears now have a total of four (4) Bears who have now earned MEAC Player of the Week honors this season. Junior linebacker Lawrence Richardson was named the Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 19 and graduate student quarterback Carson Baker was named Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 3.

Morgan (2-3, 0-1) returns to action for a Thursday night matchup at North Carolina Central (4-1, 0-0) on Thursday, Oct. 13. The game will be played at O’Kelly-Riddick Stadium in Durham, North Carolina. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm EST and will be broadcast by ESPN2 and WEAA, 88.9FM.
